Environment



ELECT is committed to managing environmental matters in a responsible manner. Our commitment impacts our day-to-day operations and extends to the surrounding environment in which we operate. All our tasks will be carried out in line with current environmental legislation, regulations and licenses.

We continually review of our processes to ensure that our environmental impact is reduced to minimal levels. We aim to achieve this by:

  • Developing and reviewing environmental objectives and targets, and documenting and monitoring our overall environmental performance.
  • Training our staff on environmental matters to increase awareness and ensure policy compliance.
  • Commitment to prevention of environmental pollution, focusing on minimising release of contaminants and efficient use of raw materials to conserve natural resources.
  • Communication of our commitment to environmental responsibility to all our people, suppliers and customers.
  • Management at all levels of the company are responsible for ensuring that this policy is communicated and adhered to by all crew and that it is made available to interested members of the public.

Environmental Guidelines

  • All waste water from cleaning processes to be disposed of in a sewered system such as a cleaner's trough or toilet pan.
  • All efforts must be made to ensure waste cannot make its way into storm drains or ground water.
  • Chemical spills are contained and reported to the Area Manager.
  • Where appropriate, waste materials are to be recycled.
  • All chemical containers, dispensers etc are to be kept and recycled.
  • Ensure all electrical items such as lights and air-conditioning are switched off once tasks have been completed.

Environmental Initiatives

  • Micro-fibre technology will be incorporated where possible to reduce the need to use chemicals.
  • Battery Recycling
  • Environmentally responsible products will be used as per the Australian Standard AS4351.
  • All paper products and bin liners are to be recycled products.
  • Environmental responsibilities will be incorporated into initial staff inductions.
  • Work closely with the waste and recycling contractor to achieve the desired reduction targets.
  • Embracing new technology in equipment to cut down on chemical and water usage.
  • Sites to be assessed for environmental impact.
  • Work with suppliers to source more environmentally friendly products.

From the time of recruitment, ELECT ensures cleaning crews are well trained, inducted, and supervised so that everyone understands the importance of safety practices, and looks out for the safety and welfare of anyone in attendance at any of our workplaces.

Health and Safety Policy
We recognise and accept our responsibilities as an employer to provide and maintain a safe and healthy environment for all of our employees and any person affected by our activities. Our Health and Safety Policy covers all necessary practical steps to meet these responsibilities.

Staff Training



Training
We believe that training of staff is an integral part of our service delivery. Training programs for staff are continuous, active and realistic. They consist of thorough induction training, followed by day-to-day training, instruction, correction and advice during the performance of services.

This is also and supported by formal training courses.

Our approach in developing our cleaning staff involves seven distinct steps:

OH&S and Environmental Training
ELECT provides safety training on OH&S procedures, emerging legislation and safe work procedures. OH&S training is conducted as a key component of our induction training program.


Equipment
To achieve effective cleaning, the care and type of equipment used is of paramount importance.

The selection process for ELECT's equipment is a result of a comprehensive purchasing evaluation process, which also assesses the cost and availability of spare parts. Evaluation also covers true cost and productivity and where possible equipment will be given trial periods to ensure that it satisfies the needs of the task.

Our strong and longstanding partnerships with our suppliers mean that we are privy to the latest and most innovative equipment available to our industry.

Our quality processes system is a disciplined system of planning, budgeting, reviewing, testing, inspecting, auditing and reporting on the quality of the contracts it undertakes. The program reinforces ELECT's commitment to excellence.

Management Systems


ELECT's Management Systems address service implementation and continuity, risk management, environmental management and customer relationship management.

Quality Management System

Our Quality Management System is a disciplined system of planning, budgeting, reviewing, testing, inspecting, auditing and reporting on the quality of the service we undertake. This system is integral in assisting us and our staff in delivering a service that is of the highest standard.

The program reinforces our commitment to excellence.

Our performance measuring system has the capacity, not only to measure our performance from the internal customer perspective, but also to monitor and report any non-conformance matters that may arise.

Our Quality Inspection Reports accurately measure the standard of service being provided and evaluate our customers' response to the service. These reports and ratings act as a tracking mechanism of work and of our operatives. Our Quality Management System includes:

  • Periodic quality inspections by our Management in partnership with the customer.
  • Regular quality inspections by Site Managers ensuring scope is being met.
  • Our Quality Inspection Reports can be automated and uploaded, in real-time, to our Electronic Customer Relationship Management system (ECRM) giving instant access to our customers.


OH&S Management System

We ensure that all necessary OH&S systems are established and implemented for the safety of our staff and our customers. We perform the following for each contract to ensure the safety of our customers, their staff and patrons and our employees.

Our vigorous OH&S Management System includes assessing for risk, planning and mitigating risk along with extensive training and constant assessment of safe work methods.

Environmental Management System

We strive, within our technical and financial capabilities, to protect the environment during the planning and conduct of our business operations. We define green cleaning as cleaning effectively to create healthy buildings while at the same time reducing our environmental impacts. New technologies and processes make it possible to clean effectively and efficiently with less impact on health and the environment.
Green cleaning is not just about using environmentally friendly products, it is comprehensive and includes assessing the unique needs of each facility and its occupants, as well as the cleaning chemicals, equipment, paper products, procedures and training.


We have developed a number of programs internally and in partnership with our customers to support environmentally sustainable practices in our day to day operations:
We draw upon the longstanding partnerships with suppliers so that we are made aware of environmentally sustainable innovations in technology and equipment for use in our operations. The use biodegradable and microfiber technology is prevalent in our operations.


We have an internal energy efficiency program that we implement in partnership with our customers where possible.
We have a Sustainable Work Practices program that is constantly reviewed by our EHS team to ensure compatibility and implementation on our contracts.


Our Waste Management Education program has been a successful program implemented in partnership with our customers that educates and reinforces reuse and recycling practices.
